The highlight for all children in Obergurgl - Hochgurgl
Each Thursday morning preparation is made for children's ski races which start at around 10.30 am. Although it’s not compulsory to participate, most children look forward to it all week long during the group course, by which time they’ve gained enough confidence to ski down the slope and cross the finishing line.
Our ski instructors train and prepare their group several days before the race. They too are competitive and particularly proud when their students do well in the race! Whether it’s gold, silver or bronze, all children receive a medal to proudly show their family and friends. It’s a small reminder of the Obergurgl Ski School in Tyrol.
Children's ski races in Obergurgl
Obergurgl’s weekly races take place on the Gaisberg, Mahdstuhl and in the Pirchütt children's ski area at the meeting point. Bobo the penguin - our Ski School mascot, visits the children regularly throughout the week and looks forward to cheering everyone on. He is always excited to see the progress the children have made throughout the week, and how good they can all carve it down the mountain.
Every child gets a medal
Once all the students in the group have completed their race, a prize giving is held where every child receives a medal. It’s a proud moment for parents to see what their children have learnt in Ski School and to see their progress from year to year.
